Overview

The full-size project - Increased energy access for productive uses through the development of small hydropower in rural areas in Madagascar, funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), was implemented by UNIDO from May 2015 to June 2023. The main objective of the project was to stimulate the use of small hydropower to reduce GHG emissions and trigger productive use for income generation in line with priorities of the Government of Madagascar with the overall aim to increase the competitiveness of the Madagascan SME sector and to reduce its dependency on fossil fuels. The terminal evaluation covered the whole duration of the project.
